Carlos Celdran goes Living La Vida Imelda

MANILA, OCTOBER 15, 2012 – Living La Vida Imelda, a multimedia performance by renowned Filipino tour guide, cultural activist and performing artist Carlos Celdran first graced the Cultural Center of the Philippines in 2004. The performance returns next month at the Silangan Hall of the CCP.

The disco-themed show allows viewers a glimpse into the Philippines in 1970s. Celdran’s performance explores issues of Cold-War geopolitics, the global influence of Hollywood, Philippine Post-colonial cultural identity, the ideals of democracy in developing nations and the creation of what Celdran likes to call: “State sanctioned arts & culture”.

The Philippines’ former first lady, known for her love of extravagance and the arts, Imelda Marcos’ biography holds the narrative together.

“Livin La Vida Imelda – The Performance”premiered in 2011 at Twist Gallery in Toronto, Canada and again at Silverlens Gallery in March this year.
