The search for the next creative spark goes nationwide: Young Kidlat 2026 is now open

The doors to the country’s most prestigious student advertising competition have just swung wider; completely Unprompted_.

For the first time in its history, the Young Kidlat Student Competition, hosted by the 4As Philippines and the Creative Guild of the Philippines, is officially going nationwide.

This 2026, Young Kidlat isn’t just a competition; it’s a national search for the authentic, self-initiated ideas that will shape the future of Philippine advertising. Under this year’s theme, Unprompted_, we are stripping away the algorithms and challenging the next generation of creative titans from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao to step up. This is a celebration of pure human intuition, gut instinct, and original thought. No digital safety nets, no AI generators. Just raw talent taking center stage. Turn off the prompts and show us what your mind can do.

No walls, no limits

In a move to champion inclusivity, Young Kidlat 2026 is now open to all enrolled college students in advertising and related programs across the Philippines. Competing in teams of two, students are invited to bring their school’s strongest ideas to the national arena.

“For the first time, we’re tearing down the walls and taking the Young Kidlat Competition nationwide. We aren’t just looking for the best students in the metro; we’re looking for the best creative souls in the country. If you’ve got an idea in your bones, we want to see it,” Seven A.D. Deputy Executive Creative Director and Young Kidlat/Student AdCongress Committee Director Rina Dela Calzada told adobo Magazine.

To ensure a level playing field, the Creative Guild is taking the brief straight to the students, launching it publicly on social media for anyone with a dream and a deadline.

Play it forward: Creativity with a cause

This year’s Young Kidlat Competition isn’t just a test of technical skill; it’s a mission with a heart. Partnering with the Philippine Toy Bank, this year’s brief challenges students to champion the universal right to play. Based in Pasig, the Philippine Toy Bank breathes second life into pre-loved toys, delivering moments of pure creativity and comfort to underserved communities.

The Challenge: 60 seconds to change everything

The brief demands the ultimate creative discipline: A maximum 60-second video. Participants must prove they can spark a movement, tell a story, and capture a brand’s soul in just one minute. It’s a format designed for the modern age; fast, bold, and unapologetic.

“They say the best stories are told in a heartbeat, and that’s the challenge this year: 60 seconds to spark a movement. It’s about clarity, guts, and that one ‘aha!’ moment that sticks with you. Show us how one powerful minute is all it takes to change your entire career,” The Huddle Room Native Creative Director and Young Kidlat/Student AdCongress Committee Director Issel Jayme added.
