Globe gives free SMS to help affected subs in Visayas areas

MANILA – November 14, 2013 – To help communities affected by the devastation caused by Super Typhoon Yolanda, Globe Telecom is offering 25 free SMS per day for five days that may be used for local and international messages.

The service will be available to all Globe and TM subscribers in the provinces of Leyte, Samar, Cebu, Aklan, Antique, and Capiz from November 13 to 17, Globe said in a press release.

“Amidst this catastrophe, our first duty as a public service company is to restore connectivity and help those in need.  Our network in the Visayas has been restored partially and parallel efforts in the form of relief operations and Libreng Tawag and Charging activities are being conducted. Our free SMS to Globe and TM as well as to international destinations is also another way of assisting our distressed brothers and sisters so that they reach out to their friends and relatives wherever they may be,” said Yoly Crisanto, Head of Globe Corporate Communications.

For Globe and TM customers in the affected Visayas provinces, the free service can be availed by texting BangonPinoy to 8888.
