MANILA – Timed to coincide with the summer season, Globe Telecom has expanded its unlimited data roaming services to serve prepaid customers for a flat rate starting at P599 per day.
Called Globe Prepaid Roam Surf, it will let prepaid customers access the internet for a full 24 hours instead of a per-day cap that expires at the stroke of midnight. Users on the Globe Tipid plan can also avail of the service, while TM users will have to wait a bit longer.
The new service will open data roaming to 97% of Globe’s total mobile customer base of around 46 million. Postpaid users, which accounts for the remaining 3%, are already enjoying data roaming service via a similar promo launched last year.
Globe is rapidly reaping the rewards from the strategy, reporting in February that the number of data roaming customers increased by 40%.
Globe Prepaid Roam Surf will be available in 50 countries worldwide, which Globe claims is four times bigger than Smart Communication.
It’s a few countries short from its postpaid counterpart which offers data roaming to 83 countries, but Coco Domingo, VP for Globe Platinum and Roaming Business, assured that coverage for prepaid will be on par with postpaid by the third quarter this year.

We know Filipinos love to share their experiences as they happen, and with Globe Prepaid Roam Surf, customers can “virtually” bring their friends along on any travel adventure without being dependent on Wi‐Fi,” Domingo adds.
While the data roaming coverage is still limited on prepaid, users can now enjoy the added bonus of free travel insurance with TravelCare to protect them from flight delays or cancellations, loss of baggage, and medical emergencies worth up to P200,000 for 30 days.
Globe Prepaid Roam Surf includes three variants; P599 for 24 hours, P1797 for 3 full days and P2995 for 5 full days. Customers can dial *143# and access the International and Roaming menu to register to the service without having to memorize registration keywords.
