Heineken “drops” travellers in the Philippines for latest adventure campaign

MANILA, SEPTEMBER 4, 2013 – A Philippine island has become the setting for Heineken’s final story in their “Dropped” series , a reality-show style campaign that features intrepid travellers who have been handcuffed and left to find their way out of an unfamiliar place with only the most basic supplies and of course, bottles of Heineken beer.

The final installment pairs Murray from Ireland, and Jakub from Poland, who are shown in the first episode travelling separately while blindfolded. The travelers apparently have no idea where they are headed as they ride tricycles and rickety buses along the Philippines’ bumpy province roads.

“It smells like paradise,” Jakub says as he rides a boat, not knowing that he is headed to Pinabuyutan island in El Nido where he eventually meets and is handcuffed to Murray.  Their adventure unfolds in three episodes that show them navigating the island together as they make their way back home.

Heineken’s “Dropped” series was launched in June 2013, and was created with Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam. Other locations in the series include Morocco, Alaska, Poland and Cambodia.
