Kidlat Awards 2013 unveils speaker lineup

MANILA, MARCH 18, 2013 – Bring back the hunger for creativity this year with Kidlat Awards 2013’s impressive speaker lineup. Slated to take place on April 11-12, 2013 at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, creatives will get the chance to participate in the annual creativity fest right in the middle of Manila’s concrete jungle.

 
 
Mon Jimenez
 
Tourism has never been more fun, thanks to Secretary of Tourism Mon Jimenez.
 
The former adman is one of the country’s living legends of advertising, being the brains behind some of the most memorable campaigns for Jollibee, Selecta, and San Miguel Beer, among others.
 
As keynote speaker for this year’s Kidlat Awards, Secretary Jimenez shares his unconventional wisdom on how to sell a country to the rest of the world.
 
 
Tony Hertz
 
Tony Hertz is the mastermind behind Hertz:Radio, a shop that has successfully been producing award-winning radio work for clients worldwide.
 
Hertz was a Creative Director at McCann-Erickson for 14 years – in Tokyo, Brussels and Birmingham UK- before founding Hertz:Radio.
 
He’s an Anglo-American based in Manila, but tours the world to hold seminars and workshops that are the fruit of his 35 years of experience as a radio specialist and creative director.
 
 
Erik Matti
 
Erik Matti is a director, screenwriter and producer with successful movies such as Pa-siyam, The Arrival, Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles and Magic Temple –amongst others- under his belt.
 
He’s been awarded Best Director for Pa-siyam at the FAP Awards, for Best Direction and Screenplay at the Gawad Urian Awards for The Arrival and was given the award for Best Screenplay at the Metro Manila Film Festival for Magic Temple.
 
He’s part-owner of Revolver Studios and PostManila and continues to be a huge influence to the Philippine advertising industry by offering his unparalleled post production capabilities.
 
 
Raimund Marasigan
 
Often dubbed as “The Philippines’ busiest musician”, Raimund Marasigan keeps himself busy a record producer, voice actor, TV host, product endorser but most importantly: a musician who’s been producing famous records as either the drummer of The Eraserheads, the keyboardist/synth player for Pedicab or as the guitarist and frontman of Sandwich, to just name a few.
 
 
Noel Lorenzana
 
With his knowledge in marketing, he could sell you anything.   Noel Lorenzana started out as the Marketing Director of Unilever Shanghai and, after an impressively steep career path, went on to become Executive Vice President/Head of Consumer Wireless Division at Smart Communications, Inc., one of the countries biggest companies.
 
 
Anygma
 
Put two people together, have them willingly throw insults at each other, and observe them as they outwit each other with sharp punch lines and unexpected word play: rap battles.
 
FlipTop is a rap battle league with a pool of rappers whose rap battle videos have gone viral, with videos that have up to a million views.
 
The man behind FlipTop is Anygma. He’s responsible for putting up and coming Filipino rappers on the map and giving them a platform to show how talented and good they are at, well, insulting.
 
 
Maria Ressa
 
Maria A. Ressa is the CEO and Executive Editor of Rappler, a social news network which uses a hearts and minds approach to news through a unique mood navigator. Rappler combines the best of professional journalism with citizen journalism and crowdsourcing.
 
Ms. Ressa has been a journalist in Asia for more than 25 years, most of them as CNN’s bureau chief in Manila (1987-1995) then Jakarta (1995-2005). She was CNN’s lead investigative reporter focusing on terrorism in Southeast Asia and wrote “Seeds of Terror: An Eyewitness Account of al-Qaeda’s Newest Center of Operations in Southeast Asia” (Free Press, 2003).
