ASIA-PACIFIC – BANGKOK, THAILAND, NOVEMBER 14, 2011: The search for Asia Pacific’s top up-and-coming directors is on again as ADFEST invites script submissions for next year’s Fabulous Four.
Fabulous Four is the region’s most respected showcase of emerging directors. Every year, directors and assistant directors are invited to submit five-minute short film scripts based on a particular theme. Next year’s theme is ‘Fast Forward’, which is also the theme of ADFEST 2012.
The top four scripts, as voted by ADFEST 2012’s Film Craft Lotus and New Director Lotus Jury, will be announced on February 1, 2012. These directors will then have just one month to direct the short film of the submitted script, which will premiere during ADFEST. Next year’s festival runs from March 18 to 20 in Pattaya, Thailand.
“Fabulous Four is the region’s top career launching pad for ambitious directors. Every director dreams of screening their work to the world’s top creative executives, and at ADFEST they have the chance to make their first ‘big break’,” says ADFEST President Jimmy Lam.
“ADFEST will also enter these short films to the Young Director Award (YDA), LA Shorts Fest, and Busan International Film Festival, so it’s an ideal opportunity for exposure for the new directors,” Lam continues.
Entrants must be directors or assistant directors based in Asia Pacific and the script must be one of the first seven works directed by the entrant.
Each entrant can submit, free-of-charge, one script for a five-minute short film under the theme “Fast Forward”. The deadline for script submissions is January 6, 2012.
The Fabulous Four directors whose scripts receive the highest score will be notified by ADFEST by February 1, 2012, and they will have one month to bring their film script to life.
ADFEST will provide return economy airfare, ground transportation, accommodation, and full delegate registration to the Fabulous Four so they can attend ADFEST 2012 to present their works at the Fabulous Four film screening.
