Third gen iPad features Retina display, 5mp camera, 4G, and voice dictation

GLOBAL – MARCH 8, 2012: Apple Inc has released its much-awaited new iPad, but wait, it’s not called iPad 3 but simply the third generation iPad.

The new iPad, the third generation of its category, features an improved Retina display, which delivers four times the number of pixels of the iPad 2. Current iPads have 1024×768 display while the new iPad is at 2048×1536. Movies can now be played at a full 1080p HD-resolution.
And as the display improves, faster processor is needed thus comes the A5X chip, packed with quad-core graphics
Another improvement on the world’s top tablet is its 5-megapixel iSight camera, slightly better than the iPhone 4’s, and can also capture 1080p video.
The new iPad promises a faster 4G LTE connectivity on AT&T and Verizon networks and a 3G-connectivity available around the world.
Speculations on the features of the new iPad included the integration of Siri. The new iPad may not have Siri, but its voice dictation feature is slightly close to that. Dictation can be used to write messages, take notes, and search the web. According to Apple, this feature also works with third-party apps such as updating Facebook status, tweeting, and writing Instagram captions.
The third generation iPad will be available in black or white on March 16 on selected countries starting at US$499 while the iPad 2 will now be selling at $399.
