adobo@night fuels indie films and the fight against cervical cancer

Celebrating the creative excellence of filipinos, adobo magazine’s first ever film festival adobo@night took place at the On Cue Theater last 23rd to 24th of April.

The 2-day event showcased the top TV ads of the decade, the best of Cinemalaya shorts and the much-anticipated award-winning independent films that garnered international recognition. The six films showcased were chosen by adobo magazine and curated by DDB Creative Director and independent film advocate Lilit Reyes.

Among the films showcased, directors Richard Somes and Raymond Red of "Yanggaw" and "Himpapawid" respectively, attended the screening of their films. There were more than six hundred people over-all and among the audience were Rick Hawthorne of Road Runner, David Guerrero of BBDO Guerrero/ Proximity and Lilit Reyes himself.

The On Cue Theater, a digital inflatable theater, is located at Boho@8th Ave. Along with their first innovation was the Night Market that oozed with art and creativity. The vendors offered various selection of goods and the "fiery" performances from professional dancers entertained the people while waiting for the films to commence.

The beneficiary of the event is the Sahara Network, a foundation that seeks to educate women about health and to empower them against cervical cancer.

With the proceeds from the filmfest, adobo magazine will donate a cyro-therapy gun, a crucial step towards standing up to cervical cancer.
