The power behind the Clone Wars: Autodesk 2009 comes to Manila

On Tuesday, Sep. 9, Maya® celebrated its 10th year anniversary by launching its latest Autodesk Media & Entertainment (M&E) 3D solutions and compositing applications. The event was held in Hard Rock Café Glorietta, and attended by users and customers from the post-production and gaming communities.

Highlighted in Autodesk Maya 2009 are the jaw-dropping  effects of the Autodesk ImageModeler and Autodesk Stitcher.  Post-production houses that already use Maya know that the software is not limited to games or animation, but to any user who appreciates its many functions.  “The technology is available in the Philippines.  I would be happy if people use it here as they do in the US, but we are not in that stage yet,” said Philippines Country Manager Teddy Tiu.   At the approximate price of P250,000, that is understandable.  However, a quarter of a million bucks is definitely a lot cheaper than blowing up 10 volcanoes or staging a battle scene.  And is less hazardous as you can render that from your laptop.

The Maya Autodesk software serves to address production efficiency from technical to creative, through improved interoperability and flexibility to achieve a truly immersive experience.  The Maya software is the animation platform that produced the new Lucasfilm Animation Star Wars: The Clone Wars feature film and TV series.  Though the storylines and key scenes are designed in the US, Lucasfilm Animation Singapore and its partner studio CGCG in Taipei produce the animation.  Maya software enables the seamless transition from creative to production and has become indispensable to the film industry.

Autodesk is the world leader in 2D and 3D design software for the manufacturing, building and construction, and media and entertainment markets.  The company has received honors from the National Television Academy Awards, the Scientific and Technical Academy Award and the Game Developer Frontline Hall of Fame Award.
