Ayala Museum Art and Advocacy lecture on Creative Outreach this Saturday

PHILIPPINES, JANUARY 2011 – Ayala Museum and the Australian Embassy in Manila will hold a lecture entitled "Creative Outreach: Social Development Through Art & Design" with Dr. Rick Bennett of the University of New South Wales, Australia on Saturday, January 29, 2011, 3:30 pm at the Luna Room, Ayala Museum in Makati City.

Dr. Bennett, founder of the Omnium Research Group, has undertaken numerous outreach programs tapping creativity and craftsmanship between distanced artists, designers and theorists worldwide, of which he will talk about in the lecture.

Among these programs is the public art exhibition, "Dasmanila: Recycling Garbage, Restoring Heritage," held in October 2010 at the Ayala Museum Plaza. It featured hundreds of "flowers" made of recyclable materials and woven by hand by the craftswomen of Dasmariñas, Cavite.

This event is part of the Australian Embassy’s Celebrate Australia 2011 festival to mark Australia Day. Creative Outreach is also an installment of the Ayala Museum Art and Advocacy lecture series.

Discounted admission is available for students, senior citizens, and Ayala Museum members.
