Ayala Museum Design Talks Presents Lighting Designer Florian Theuer

The past few decades have seen the rise of the Filipino designer in the fields of architecture, interior and furniture design, fashion, and other applied creative endeavors. Ayala Museum and Creative Industries Initiative is proud to present DesignTalks, a lecture series that features important designers who will talk about their works and the thinking processes that went into their development.  Noted designers in the fields of interior and furniture design, product design, fashion, architecture, and graphic design have been invited to give presentations and answer questions about their work.

DesignTalks allows museum-goers to listen directly to design professionals who shape our environment and influence how we look at our world.

The next DesignTalks presentation features Florian Theuer, a Manila-based lighting designer, on May 12 at 4:30PM at the Ground Floor Lobby. Mr. Theuer will be talking about his works, influences, and future projects.

Mr. Theuer finished his studies with a Master’s degree in 1991, worked for two multinational companies and moved to the Philippines at the beginning of 1996. Coming from a lighting background in which he used his technical expertise in small, medium and large projects, he decided to cater exclusively to the technical needs of his clients. In 2003 he founded the Theuer EuroLighting Consulancy Corp. and has since done projects in Germany, Philippines, Spain, Thailand, Malaysia, China and HongKong.

His projects include private homes, 6-Star Hotels, offices, and award-winning restaurants.

He was involved in the first LEED certified office in the Philippines, which was awarded Silver level and is currently involved in the first Malaysian LEED project, which is poised to achieve Platinum level. His projects are known to be outstanding from the creative side, as well as from their energy savings.

The last DesignTalks featured the renowned furniture designer Kenneth Cobonpue on April 7, which was attended by more than 500 people.

The lecture is free with museum admission. For more information, please call 757-7117 to 21 local 29 or email education@ayalamuseum.org.
