Not your everyday coffeehouse planner

PHILIPPINES, JANUARY 2011 – Witty Saves the World has been making “anti-planners” since 2010, with “I Was Supposed to Get You a Planner But I Got Fat/Broke on the 10th Frappe”. This year their planner is dedicated to those who love to love, especially the complicated ones. Entitled “Relaks, Puso Lang Yan, Malayo Sa Bituka” (Relax, The Heart is Far From the Gut), the 2011 planner organizes your day-to-day with a good chuckle between pages. All for less than a fraction of the popular coffeehouse and moleskine planners.

The novelty of the planner is in its inserts. The illustrated dividers look crude with their squiggles, but helps the kitsch effect of the planner. While ordinary planners contain quotes, world time guides, or shameless plugs from coffee shop of origin, this where this planner rebels. The inserts include joke-coupons, a love history assessment, and parody love quizzes. Coupons offered are “It’s Not You, It’s Me, Ahhh, Ehhh, Break Na Tayo”, “Sorry Na, Bati Na Tayo, Sige Na, Wag Nang Maarte Dyan”, and “I Love You Too, Tayo Na” attached to “ganti” or revenge stubs. Day pages are peppered with tabloid information, following the precedent of the 2010 planner. You will find info on when April Boy Regino and Andrew E’s birthdays are, and the divorce date of Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins. Also look out for Imelda Papin week, marked by the chorus of karaoke classic, “Isang Linggong Pag-Ibig” (One Week Love).

And of course, Valentine’s Day occupies two pages and a quarter, divided by the hour.

The layout is clean enough for writing, though limited for the worker on the go. For content, our only complaint is in how it is too witty for actual use. It makes for a great t and a conversation piece, but not something to use in a meeting with suits. Defeats the purpose of a planner maybe, but it gives you something more than just a to-do list.

Although the planners are sold out from the direct seller on Facebook and Multiply, you might still be able to get a copy from Analog Soul at Trinoma, or at Bookay-Ukay Libruhan in UP Village for P400.

Now just be careful with your heart.
