Primetime gets the Willies: Shalani Soledad joins Willie Revillame as Korina Sanchez and Noli De Castro return to TV Patrol

PHILIPPINES, NOVEMBER 8, 2010 – TV5 rolls up its sleeves as it ups the ante against ABS-CBN in the fight for ratings. Not only did thenetwork pit the Willie Revillame gameshow, Willing Willie, in the Monday 6:30pm slot against ABS-CBN’s TV Patrol, but it has signed up Valenzuela council and President Aquino’s (ex?) girlfriend Shalani Soledad to co-host. Pep.ph broke the news on November 6.

Soledad tells Inquirer it was Willie who offered the opportunity to co-host, but stresses that she will not singing and dancing co-host: “That’s just not me. I have two left feet, and everyone else can sing better than me. I was also told I didn’t have to change my look and I could wear my usual clothes.”

Revillame became a household name under ABS-CBN by hosting the hit noontime gameshow, Wowowee. He left ABS-CBN earlier this year after a dispute with the network. He joined TV5 shortly after, launching Willing Willie in October.

ABS-CBN also announced a reshuffling for TV Patrol’s news desk by bringing in Korina Sanchez and Noli de Castro to anchor with Ted Failon beginning tonight, November 8.

There is talk that GMA7, ABS-CBN’s main network rival has plans to reshuffle their primetime line-up and push their 6:30pm news program, 24 Oras to a later time. Replacing 24 Oras will be a yet-to-be announced gameshow, says Manila Bulletin sources.

Brace yourselves. Primetime might never be the same after this.
