UPMG Smashes PANA to win AdBoard’s first Inter-Association Badminton tilt

THE PHILIPPINES, SEPTEMBER 23, 2011: Using quick volleys and alternating long and short shots, the United Print Media Group (UPMG) emerged victorious and was crowned the first ever champions of the AdBoard’s Inter-Association Badminton Tournament. The tournament is one of the events in the run-up to the 22nd Philippine Advertising Congress (AdCongress22) slated this November in CamSur province.

UPMG beat the Philippine Association of National Advertisers (PANA), which overcome a five-point deficit before finally succumbing to the powerful smashes of their opponents.

“Of course I’m proud of UPMG as winners!” Ricky Alegre of Business World, who also heads the Sports and Events Committee of the AdCon22, exclaimed. He underscored that while sports is a competitive activity, it is also a way for friends to get together and enjoy. “That is the spirit of sports, where people come together from different associations and just have fun. That’s the beauty of sports!”
