Bryan Siy, Creative Director, shared that the selection process was very stringent, with close to 200 applications received in three days. Each TBWA\cademy scholar will receive a monthly stipend.

Applicants were from UP Manila, Miriam College, Benilde, Mapua, Ateneo, FEU, UST, PUP, Baliuag University and TUP, as well as from University of Salford and University of Edinburgh.

Siy said the 15 promising scholars were selected after several rounds of interviews and copytests. Of the 15, three were for broadcast production, one for planning and 11 for creatives.

For four months, the scholars will work with some of the country’s most respected leaders in design, advertising and film. At TBWA\cademy, the scholars will be mentored by TBWA’s Creative Directors, and head of planning and broadcast production. TBWA also invited leaders in design and film industry to serve as lecturers.

"The scholars will work on actual briefs and present to clients," he said. "We also have full scholars in University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts-Diliman. Managing partners Melvin Mangada and Jimmy Santiago are adjunct professors of advertising. They are committed to discover and train the future superstars of advertising. We have also set up a fund for the thesis projects of UP CFA graduating students," Siy also said.

Now on its fourth year TBWA\cademy is unlike other training programs, as it has no employment bond. "They can work anywhere they want after graduation," said Siy, noting that previous scholars have gone on to work at TBWA, as well as Mega Magazine, JWT, and Black Pencil. "One scholar decided to go back to her true love, painting," he added.

Committed to discover and train talents for the Philippine advertising industry, TBWA\Santiago Mangada Puno established TBWA\cademy in 2009.
