Team Manila partners with COMELEC for voter’s education campaign

PHILIPPINES – AUGUST 5, 2011 – Starting this week and over the next two months, more than the usual posters and tarpaulins will be seen at MRT and LRT stations in Metro Manila. Design studio Team Manila has collaborated with the Commission on Elections for a voter’s education campaign.

"The initial invite came from a Twitter message and then we met to discuss the project," shares Team Manila founder Jowee Alviar, who works with COMELEC’s James Jimenez for the campaign.

The design studio came up with three designs, one for each topic: new registrants, validation and transfer of address. The visuals are clean and simple, in striking colors to catch the commuter’s attention. The materials communicate the steps for new and previous voters. Photographer Erwin Barleta and TV host Shawn Yao contributed to the project.

"Team Manila has always wanted to work on more public projects with the government, thus we pushed through with the collaboration. We believe that
our government needs help in the design of their materials and we hope to work with different government agencies to develop them.," said Alviar.

To ensure that you can vote in the next elections, present a valid ID at the COMELEC office in your city or municipality. New registrants should fill out the application form and have their biometrics recorded. Old voters can validate or their registration, transfer registration, update or correction their entries, or have their registration reactivated. Download registration forms at www.comelec.gov.ph.
