CJ WORX turns newborn blankets into guides for hearing rights in Thailand

The ability to hear is one of the very first gifts every child is born with. It is the foundation for learning, communication, and development. Yet every year, 3 out of every 1,000 babies in Thailand are born with hearing loss.

This statistic would not be as alarming if every child received treatment in time. With cochlear implant surgery before the age of three, children have the best chance to develop hearing, speech, and language like their peers. Unfortunately, many never receive that opportunity.

In fact, every child in Thailand is entitled to free hearing screening, diagnosis, cochlear implant surgery, and rehabilitation from birth. The real problem is that most families simply do not know these rights exist.

To help close this awareness gap, CJ WORX partnered with the Cochlear Implant Association of Thailand to transform one of the first things that protects every newborn into something that also protects their right to hear.

Introducing The Blankets of Rights, a newborn blanket designed to do more than keep babies warm and safe. It also helps protect their hearing rights from the very first day of life.

The blanket is printed with easy-to-understand information that guides parents through every stage of their child’s hearing journey, from newborn hearing screening and diagnosis to cochlear implant surgery and rehabilitation. It also features a QR code that connects families directly to the Cochlear Implant Association of Thailand, where they can learn more about their child’s hearing rights, receive guidance, and access the support they need.

By putting this information in parents’ hands from the moment their child is born, the campaign helps ensure that no family misses the opportunity to seek treatment. Because when it comes to hearing loss, the earlier children receive care, the greater their chance to hear, learn, and grow up without barriers.
