An invitation to Ballet Manila’s East Meets West preview

PHILIPPINES – JUNE 2011 – Ballet Manila has been at the forefront of bringing classical ballet to as many Filipinos as possible for the past fifteen years, performing in the most august performance halls, major commercial centers, and far-flung barangays.

In June and July 2011, Ballet Manila goes to London and Ireland to perform “East Meets West”, a gala that celebrates and showcases how ballet bridges classical and indigenous cultures.

As a send-off, there will be a special preview in Manila of the Europe program. The dances are set to wide range of music including world classics such as Johann Pachelbel’s Canon in D Major all the way to Filipino music by Joey Ayala. Choreographers include Agnes Locsin, Ric Culalic, Augustus  Damian III, Alberto Dimarucut, Ernest Mandap, Gerardo Francisco and Tony Fabella.
The Manila preview on June 18, 730pm at the Star Theater aims to raise funds for Ballet Manila¹s special projects for less fortunate but ted children like Project Ballet Futures and the year-round scholarship program.
