Manila-based Graffiti Artists unveil Giant MTV Logos for Music Evolution 2015

MANILA – Watch out Manila. Giant MTV logos glammed up by the country’s top graffiti artists are on its way in the run up to the much-awaited MTV Music Evolution 2015.

Four 10-feet tall MTV logo graffiti art installations created by local graffiti artists, Chichi Monster, Chill, Egg Fiasco, and Nick Automatic, will be popping up across different city hotspots from this week, such as The Collective, Glorietta 4 and Quezon City Circle before its final display together at the MTV Music Evolution on 17 May.

Using his calligraphic style and Asian aesthetics, Chichi Monster fused multimedia techniques mixing together video projection mapping and his modern evolution of the ancient Philippine script, the Alibata. This is modelled after a first creation done at a press briefing for MTV Music Evolution held a month ago.

“Here, I used warm colors, and my art represents the main elements of hip hop. You see a break dancer with a face of a boom box holding a spray can on one hand and a mic on the other. Vinyls are seen floating in space to represent hip hop breaking dimensions in music.” – Egg Fiasco

“I used loud colors and a brick back ground to show a really huge cartoon MC.”– Nick Automatic

“While Egg used warm colors, I opted for a cool color palate and picked a side of the installation to add my name. My expression portrays what MTV gives viewers, a chance to chill and relax with music. I believe that hip hop is an avenue to merge all genres of music.” – Chill
