SM Group opens media AOR pitch for residential development business

THE PHILIPPINES, FEBRUARY 24, 2012: SM Development Corporation (SMDC), the residential property developer division of the SM Group of Companies, has opened a pitch for a media agency of record according to Rudy B. Villar, Jr., senior AVP for Corporate Marketing Communications, SM Investments Corporation. Universal McCann, SM Investment Corporation (SMIC) and SM Mall of Asia’s (MOA) incumbent agency has handled the SMDC account for a year before this pitch. Other accounts, such as SMIC, MOA, SM Retail (handled by OMD), and SM Supermalls (handled by MediaCom) are to remain with their respective agencies.

MediaEdge and Havas have both joined the pitch for SMDC, which according to another source is being estimated to be worth at least PHP200 M combined for out of home and above the line advertising. SMDC is considered to be one of the biggest OOH advertisers, with billboards dotting major thoroughfares in the Metro. Presently, the developer has 14 residential projects underway, situated near schools, business districts, and SM malls.

The pitch will be held on Monday, February 27, and the decision will be announced shortly thereafter.
