TBWAHakuhodo, United Arrows bring life to window shopping (literally)

ASIA-PACIFIC – JAPAN, FEBRUARY 22 2013 – As if mannequins are not creepy on their own (with their plastic faces and soulless stares), Japanese apparel store United Arrows and agency TBWAHakuhodo supposed it was a good idea to make them move.

The MarionetteBots, as the fashionable robotics are called, are held up by 16 wires, run by specialized motor and powered by Microsoft’s Kinect technology originally designed for the Xbox 360 video game console and Windows PCs.

Placed at the storefront, MarionetteBots intend to do more than attract and entertain shoppers. As the bots copy movements, shoppers are treated to different perspectives of the outfits on display and how they fit on a body in motion.
