MANILA, PHILIPPINES — For its twelfth year at Art Basel Hong Kong, Silverlens returns with a compelling showcase of artistic energy, cultural narratives, and global voices from March 26-30, 2025. Bridging its roots in Manila and its dynamic presence in New York, the gallery brings together artists to three distinct sectors: Booth 1B12, Kabinett, and Encounters EN1.

At the main booth, Silverlens presents a curated snapshot of its bold and diverse program. From the poetic and introspective works of Catalina Africa, recent recipient of the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ Thirteen Artists Award, to the quiet intensity of Nicole Coson, whose solo exhibition opens this month in Manila. Each artist offers a fresh lens on contemporary practice. The booth also features Patricia Perez Eustaquio, whose pieces will journey onwards to Art Basel in Switzerland this June. Joining them are notable voices from across Southeast Asia and beyond: Poklong Anading, Keka Enriquez, Gregory Halili, Wawi Navarroza, Citra Sasmita, and Yee I-Lann.

James Clar. Where the Horizon Breaks into Color (Wayfinding Home) (Parol #6), 2025.

In the Kabinett sector, James Clar presents Cloud Seed (Autumn) – an evocative video installation that simulates the ethereal texture of rain and fog. Alongside it is a new piece from Clar’s Parol Series, illuminating the Filipino lantern as a symbol of resilience, joy, and collective remembrance.

Meanwhile, in the Encounters sector, which is Art Basel’s platform for large-scale installations, Silverlens, in collaboration with Tina Kim Gallery, unveils Pacita Abad and Pio Abad. Conceived by artist-curator Pio Abad and Encounters curator Alexie Glass-Kantor, the presentation highlights three monumental trapunto paintings by Pacita: Through the Looking Glass (1996), Fly Into a Rage (2000), and The Sky is the Limit (2000). Towering in verticality and rich in hand-stitched detail, these pieces are not only visual spectacles but emotional landscapes.

Art Basel Hong Kong opens on 26 March 2025 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
