After 20 years, IHOP turns its frown upside down

Since it came to business 57 years ago, IHOP has been putting a smile on our faces with their mouthwatering waffles and pancakes. To make it official, the brand has decided to also turn the frown in their old logo into a smile.

“Our guests have told us for many years that coming to IHOP, and in many cases just thinking about our world famous pancakes, makes them smile,” said IHOP Vice President of Marketing Kirk Thompson.

“We believe this new logo captures the essence of the IHOP experience, which consistently delivers our guests not only craveable food, but also great memories shared with family and friends.”

A series of activities are in the works to celebrate the new smiling logo. The “Summer of Smiles” will kick off with a “Monumental Pancake Lunch” for 6,000 attendees of the Kiwanis International Convention. Like IHOP, Kiwanis is also an organization that brings smiles to people in communities. It’s a worldwide organization with affiliate youth clubs Circle K, Key Club and Aktion Club.

IHOP will prepare and serve free pancakes as they celebrate their 100 years of service to children and communities in more than 80 nations.

The new IHOP logo, though, kind of reminds us of similar looking logos such as the following.
