ABS-CBN, GMA battle over number one title

MANILA, OCTOBER 8, 2012 – Rival networks ABS-CBN and GMA7 both claim lead in TV ratings in September, upholding data from monitoring companies Kantar Media and AGB Nielsen separately.

ABS-CBN is citing Kantar Media’s report that it remains the top broadcasting network with an average national audience share of 42%, compared to GMA7’s 32%. On the other hand, GMA7 prefers AGB Nielsen’s report where it leads with 34.1% against ABS-CBN’s 32.9%.

Based on September 28-30 unanimous data from Kantar and AGB, long-running noontime show “Eat Bulaga” (GMA7) beats “It’s Showtime” (ABS-CBN) on weekdays and Saturday; and on primetime, Bubble Gang (GMA7) continues to dominate over late night news shows “Bandila” (ABS-CBN) and “Pilipinas News” (TV5).

Both reports also show ABS-CBN leading weekday primetime with its roster of teledramas, but losing to GMA’s weekend morning cartoons lineup. It recovers lead on the Sunday noontime slot, with ASAP beating Party Pilipinas in Kantar and AGB data.

Sunday primetime sees ABS-CBN’s Gandang Gabi Vice on top; but the number one spot among talent competitions is still disputable between “X Factor Philippines” (ABS-CBN) and “Protégé” (GMA7).

Weekday news shows TV Patrol (ABS-CBN) and 24 Oras (GMA7) also came out on top in separate reports.

TV5 remains third in the last ratings period.
