ABS-CBN Balls TV takes home golden Dobo at adobo Football Cup 2012

THE PHILIPPINES, MAY 29, 2012: The Philippine Marine Corps Grandstand roared success on May 26 for the biggest adobo Football Cup yet as 18 teams fiercely fought for the top spot.
The scorching summer heat did not daunt the eager football frenzied teams: ABS-CBN Balls TV, Ace Saatchi & Saatchi, BBDO Guerrero, Collab Manila, DDB Philippines, DM9 JaymeSyfu, Design by Jaycee, Go Motion, GroupM-Centrum United, JWT Manila, Leo Burnett-McDonalds, Netbooster, Ogilvy/Redworks, Publicis JimenezBasic, Publicis Manila-Nestle Philippines, Starcom MediaVest Group, TV5-AKTV, and Y&R Philippines.

Team ABS-CBN Balls TV amassed awards as they grabbed the championship after a well-fought game with second placer Publicis Manila-Nestle. Marielle Benitez of ABS-CBN Balls TV hoarded the MVP and Best Midfielder award. The man who can’t be taken down, Gwendale Morales earned the Best Defender award.
Netbooster Philippines came in at third place after winning the game against newcomer and 4th placer Design By Jaycee, which had the highest scorer of the day: Crio Sarchez.
 
The man who guarded his team’s precious goal the hardest was Gabriel Tripon of Publicis Manila earning the Best Goalkeeper, an award he is familiar with as he received the same recognition in 2010’s adobo Cup.
 
The team that proved to be the spunkiest and supportive of the lot was BBDO Guerrero as they took home the Best in Team Spirit award.

The coveted Dobo trophies were donated by former national player and current president of the United Football League, Randy Roxas.
 
On its 5th year, the adobo Football Cup was not only an event to enjoy for football fanatics but also for the whole family. A slew of activities were laid out for those looking to enjoy the day. True North Training Camp set up an airsoft shooting gallery. Enervon provided an arcade for kids and kids-at-heart to play in.
The Younghusband Football Academy provided a football precision booth for everyone to practice their kicks. The brothers Phil and James Younghusband paid the event a surprise visit to the delight of the hordes of fans.
Fotomoto Creative Concepts and SM Bo Athletics were there to capture the exciting moments through their respective photo booths.
McDonald’s newest burger offering, the Big and Tasty burger, was a big hit among the players and attendees. Summit Water and 100 Plus kept everyone hydrated under the sweltering heat.
 
This year’s Cup proved to be more than just a game of ball, but a game for a cause as the event urged support and donations for the Tondo Futkaleros. An avalanche of donations paved way for an early Christmas for the footballer kids of Tondo.
 
The adobo Football Cup 2012 is presented by Bo Athletics, Enervon, McDonald’s, Makati Medical Center, 100 Plus, Summit Water, The Younghusband Football Academy, True North Training Camps, Greenlite Banner, Milo, and Manila Beer.
