adobo FOI 2019: Chen Yi Agventures’ Patrick and Rachel Renucci To Speak at the adobo Festival of Ideas 2019

MANILA — adobo Magazine is pleased to announce that Patrick Renucci and Rachel Renucci-Tan of Chen Yi Agventures will be joining us for the fifth adobo Festival of Ideas on this coming December 5, 2019 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater, Resorts World Manila, with a one-day program dedicated to the dissection and holistic understanding of The Connectivity Economy”, as this year’s festival theme.

This year’s adobo Festival of Creativity will take a look at how the modern economy is fueled by collaboration over competition, and the role creative and innovative thinking plays in achieving business and sustainability goals. It explores the worlds created when industries and sectors intersect, converge, and collaborate. It is also set to look at how the cyclic relationships between these sectors would shape the future of the world and transform it.

For about 18 years, Rachel Renucci worked abroad as an investment banker while her husband Patrick Renucci, was the founder of one of the largest printing companies in Paris, Median Impressions. After seeing the onslaught that Yolanda brought to Leyte, they decided to come home to the Philippines, and built a state-of-the-art milling facility that would help provide farmers in Leyte a better livelihood.

The plant at Alangalang, Leyte is worth around 1.7-billion pesos would improve the productivity and quality of the grains, from only producing 2.5 metric tons (50 to 60 sacks of unhusked rice) per hectare, to an average of 7 metric tons (around 200 sacks). Some farmers say they are now able to produce 10 metric tons.

The Renuccis have also sought help from the Philippine Rice Research Institute to help teach farmers about organic pest control, as well as water management measures.

At this year’s adobo Festival of Ideas, Patrick and Reina Renucci will be talking about how they were able to form connections within Technology, Agriculture, Food, People, and Education to help farmers increase their income and produce world class rice. They will share the struggles of farmers competing with plummeting prices of imported grains, how technology is helping them cope, and what else needs to be done to improve food security in a country whose population is increasing drastically.

Tickets are available at PHP 5,000 at regular price and PHP 2,000 for students. There’s also a group package of 10+1 tickets for PHP 50,000.
