Entertainment: Nickelodeon Asia acquires license to air 3D animated series Dayu from Zhejiang Radio & TV Group

SINGAPORE – Nickelodeon Asia has inked a deal with China’s Zhejiang Radio & TV Group to air a 3D animated series on its Southeast Asia channels across the region. DAYU, premiering as four one-hour installments on Nickelodeon from June 25-28 will air at 9:00 PM (MY,PH, HK, TWN)/8pm (INDO) and will reach 6.4 million households. This deal marks the first partnership between the two parties.

DAYU is a story about dreams, love, and heroism, reflecting the harmonious coexistence between human beings and nature. The series will bring to life the Chinese legend of Dayu, a mythical hero who faces many challenges and obstacles set before him, battling for thirteen long years and leading the people to eventually defeat Gong Gong, who is likened to the Greek Poseidon. 

“Through this partnership with Zhejiang Radio & TV Group, we are adding to our Nickelodeon content offering as we seek to bring the best in kids entertainment to our audiences. Animation is an exciting genre that can complement many of our brands, and we continue to explore other opportunities, applications, and platforms,” said Pierre Cheung, senior vice president and general manager of ViacomCBS Networks Asia.
