Joe Pytka and Philip Rosenthal to be honored CLIO Awards 2011

GLOBAL – MAY 2011 – The CLIO Awards, one of the world’s most recognized awards competitions for advertising, design and communications, will present this year’s CLIO Lifetime Achievement Award to Joe Pytka, one of the most influential and prolific commercial directors of our time. The CLIO Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes the outstanding and ongoing contribution of individuals who lead the industry. 
 
Joe Pytka has directed more than 5,000 commercials, some of which debuted at Super Bowl. He has won three Directors Guild of America Commercial Direction Awards and been nominated 15 times – the most nominations for anyone in the category. Some of his most memorable works include the infamous Madonna Pepsi commercial, Ray Charles’s “Uh huh” for Pepsi, Larry Bird and Michael Jordan’s “Nothing but net” for McDonald’s, Bo Jackson’s “Bo knows” for Nike and the infamous frying egg “This is your brain on drugs" spot.
 
Furthermore, the Honorary CLIO Recipient will be given to Philip Rosenthal, known for creating the hit CBS comedy “Everyone Loves Raymond.” Rosenthal’s early writing credits also include the series “Down the Shore” and “Coach.” His work on “Everybody Loves Raymond” was nominated for more than 70 Emmy awards, with 15 wins, including Best Comedy Series in 2003 and 2005.
 
On May 19, the 2011 CLIO Awards will start with a panel conference at Essex House where thought-leaders of the industry come together for keynote and panel presentations regarding ground-breaking creative ideas within the media and the world. Bronze and Silver CLIO winners will be announced in the morning and Gold winners at lunch. Afterwards, the event will continue with the awards ceremony and reception to be held at the American Museum of Natural History.
