Digitrax Sound Productions turns 14

Uno dos tres, katorse! So the song goes. For Digitrax Sound Productions, that’s the number of years it has created some of the best sound productions in the business.

As a fresh graduate in the mid-90s Chris Daez was a young, female sound engineer at a recording studio in Makati.   Digitrax business partner Edwin Elioraga was doing A&R work in OctoArts.  Having crossed paths, Daez, Elioraga, and a bunch of other engineer buddies, and a financier, the group put together Digitrax, a recording and audio-posting facility

“It took two trips to Hong Kong, and three to the U.S., to bring in the equipment.  And they were huge!,” she gestures with her arms wide.  Growing up with music as the family business, Daez was excited with the prospect of working on her passion, as well as co-owning the business.  There was no tinge of worry at all.  “Maybe it was my innocence at the time,” she explains.

On its anniversary, Digitrax entertained its guests to live audio and soundtrack capabilities, the latest in its roster of services, best for live events productions.

Digitrax has had its share of ups and downs.  Early in its operations, there were really close calls.  “Some presidents were good for business, some were not,” she says.

All in the past now, it seems.  Of its fourteen years of operations, Digitrax has won a Quill Award, as well as a number of Araw Awards.

An entrepreneur at age eight—Daez sold imported items in school—Daez has recently expanded the business by opening Freedom Post, a video post-production company, last December.
