Philippines makes it to the NYF International Advertising Awards with 17 shortlisted entries

GLOBAL, APRIL 26, 2013 – A total of 17 entries from the Philippines has been shortlisted to the New York Festivals International Advertising Awards for World’s Best Advertising 2013.

Lowe Philippines and Hit Productions headline with six slots under Radio: ‘Lorem Ipsum’ nominated thrice for production value, music/sound design and commercial & professional public services; the RC Series campaign; ‘It’s Been Done’; and ‘Comic Sans’.

Another contender for Radio is Dentsu Philippines for Panasonic ad ‘Man on Bike’.

DM9 JaymeSyfu’s anti-sex scandal project ‘Bury the Past’ is a finalist in four different competitions – Direct & Collateral, Digital, Public Service Announcement and Avant-Garde. ‘Manila Scandal Part 2’ and ‘Hits’ are also shortlisted in the Digital and PSA competitions.

Campaigns & Grey’s ‘Slippers’ for Rustan’s Supermarkets is vying for a metal under Direct & Collateral, so is Y&R’s work on the ‘Toughest DM’ for Ford Motor Company. The latter is also looking to win under PSA for its ‘Anti Dengue Mosquito Trap’ for Maynilad.

Leo Burnett could also be taking home a trophy in Creative Marketing Effectiveness for its work with McDonald’s Twister Fries.

The International Advertising Awards competition received entries from 62 countries the world over and expanded their global footprint with the addition of new countries into the submission mix, including Mozambique.

The United States took the lead with 190 entries Shortlisted, followed by Germany with 184, Australia with 94 and Sweden with 78. In summary, the following global regions had entries achieve Shortlist status: North America – 221; Latin America – 116; Western Europe – 443 Eastern Europe -17; Asia/Asia Pacific – 207; and Middle East/Africa – 49.
