Do the deed: 365 days of good deeds in Insular Life’s Magandang Araw Movement by Aspac

MANILA – January 10, 2013 – Life insurance company Insular Life is inviting everyone to do the deed–the good deed that is–as it prepares to launch the Magandang Araw Movement, a brand activation that invites people to make someone’s day through simple acts of kindness.

The movement, set to launch on the company’s social networks on January 20, sees Insular Life suggesting good deeds that people can do every day. People can then upload photos of them doing their good deeds online to encourage others to do the same.

"We started lining up good deeds that we want people to do," Insular Life first vice president and chief marketing executive Amy Tamayo told adobo at a press conference at the Seda Hotel Friday.

"People are also free to recommend a good deed that they want, or maybe a good deed that they thought of. For instance, maybe you’re walking down the street and you saw this old lady who’s in need of help crossing the street, that’s a good deed, capture it in pictures, say something about it, put it online. And then encourage others to think of good deeds, small things that they can do for others," she said.

As Tamayo explained, the campaign is about celebrating good deeds that often go unrecognized.

"Even [something] as simple as lending someone an anti-bac handwash,  something like that, which we do every single day but we sort of lose meaning to it, so we want to call attention to that because it’s a feel good activity really," she said.

The movement is part of Insular Life’s ‘Magandang Araw’ campaign for 2014, which puts a sunny, positive spin on what is often seen as a morbid concept–life insurance.

Another initiative under the ‘Magandang Araw’ campaign is ‘Happy Deliveries,’ where Insular Life delivers a cake to celebrate peoples’ promotions.

Newly promoted employees or their colleagues can send an email to happydeliveries@insularlife.com.ph, including contact numbers and the company address. Once promotion is verified, a cake will be sent to the promoted employee on their preferred date and time.

"Delivering the cake provides us an opportunity to present potential product solutions that can help [the newly promoted employee] attain these financial goals,"  a press release said.

Also part of the ‘Magandang Araw’ campaign is Insular Life’s ‘Magandang Araw Brew,’ which is based on the idea that a good day starts with a good cup of coffee. The brew, specially roasted by artisan coffee roasters Roaster Juan’s, will be served in Insular Life offices to prospective clients and financial advisers as a way to connect with them and discuss opportunities with the company.

Along with the launch of their 2014 campaign, Insular Life has also tapped world-famous singer Lea Salonga to be its brand ambassador–the company’s first since they started in 1910.
