ABS-CBN and TV5 join forces to bring high-quality TV to Filipino viewers

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Less than a year after pausing their landmark agreement last August 2022, ABS-CBN and TV5 announced that they have entered into a five-year content agreement in order to deliver high-quality TV to Filipinos. With the deal, the two networks will be able to continue providing top-rated programs across primetime slots all days of the week.

Current on-air favorites like FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, The Iron Heart, and Dirty Linen are among the Kapamilya shows that will continue to air on TV5 during weekdays while the weekend and Sunday slots will be for ABS-CBN’s Everybody Sing and ASAP Natin ‘To respectively.

ABS-CBN President and CEO Carlo Katigbak, COO for broadcast Cory Vidanes, Chief Partnership Officer Roberto Barreiro, and Head of Finance Operations Catherine Lopez were the Kapamilya executives present during the contract signing last June 28.

On TV5’s side, the network was represented by President and CEO Guido Zaballero, MediaQuest Holdings Chairman Manny Pangilinan, MediaQuest President and CEO Jane Jimenez-Basas, PLDT Head of Business Transformation Victorico Vargas, and TV5 Chief Finance Officer Pierre Paul Buhay.

According to Zaballero, the inking of this partnership is just the beginning of what’s to come next, alluding to the many projects that the two networks have in the works. Among these are Pira Pirasong Paraiso and Nagbabagang Damdamin, two upcoming afternoon soaps co-produced by the two networks and set to air in July.

“We are also working with ABS-CBN for co-prods for the afternoon and continue to develop good content together,” he said. “We intend to strengthen our partnership with ABS-CBN. Like they say, stronger together. It is our firm belief that by solidifying it with the five-year partnership, we can also grow together.”
