Arts & Culture: CCP is Set to Launch Surian ng Sining (SUSI), a Non-Government Cultural Institute Dedicated to Develop Art and Literature for the Good of Society

On July 6, 2019, the CCP will host the official launching of Surian ng Sining. The launch will take place in the Main Lobby of the CCP building. Registration starts at 1:30pm, the launch from 2:00pm to 4:15pm.

SUSI is a nongovernment cultural institute, whose formation was acclaimed during the three-day Sigwa/Pambansang Pista ng Sining at Panitikang Bayan in conjunction with the 49th commemoration of the First Quarter Storm of 1970. Held last January in Quezon City, about 100 people’s artists, writers, cultural workers, and guests from all over the Philippines attended the festival.

SUSI is a national cultural institute of artists, writers, cultural workers, and their organizations dedicated to the development of people’s art and literature for genuine social transformation.

SUSI aims to be a center for research, study, training, production, and sustainability of the art and literary movement as an integral part of the people’s mass movement in the Philippines.

The official launching of SUSI at the CCP will consist of many activities. Some of these include the reading of the SUSI Manifesto and the oath-taking of its Board of Trustees.

In addition, the launching of SUSI will feature both performances and video presentations. National Artist Bienvenido Lumbera, among others, will give a talk.

In addition to the guests coming from all over the Philippines, the launch will feature 20 performers from at least 15 community-based cultural organizations in the National Capital Region and adjoining provinces.
