Japan wins Gold in Young Lions PR Competition

Japan took home the top prize in the Young Lions PR Competition, with Asatsu-DK’s Yuichiro Okada, Account Executive, and Tetsuya Umeda, Interactive Planner winning the Gold Medal. 

UK followed with the Silver Medal being awarded to Weber Shandwick‘s Leila Mountford, Junior Creative and Kate Sloan, Brand Strategist.

Austria was third, with the Bronze Medal being awarded to Ketchum’s Doris Christina Steiner, Consultant, Digital Expert, and Pepita Adelmann, Senior Consultant.

The winners of the new Young Lions PR Competition were announced on June 16 by the dedicated Young Lions PR Jury.

The Jury members were:

Marnie Kontovraki, Global Heineken Consumer PR Officer, The Netherlands
Michael Frohlich, Managing Director UK, Managing Director EAME Consumer Marketing Practice for Ogilvy PR

14 countries have taken part in this year’s competition which saw teams briefed by the Blue Heart Campaign, an awareness-raising initiative to fight human trafficking and highlight its impact on society.

To mark the first International Human Trafficking Day, teams were asked to create a PR campaign that would raise awareness of the Blue Heart Campaign and increase contributions from the public towards victim support. 

The winning team was honored and presented with their medals during the Creative Effectiveness, Promo & Activation, PR and Direct Lions Awards, on June 16.

The Young Lions PR Competition is supported by ICCO, Facebook, Ogilvy and Mather, Adobe, Getty Images and Wacom.
