Google PH teaches student chefs how to create delicious Youtube content

Manila – Google Philippines organized a first-of-its kind workshop at the Center for Culinary Arts, Manila (CCA) last Thursday to teach student chefs on how to produce irresistible content about their food creations on Youtube.

Called Google Cafe, the gathering invited over popular YouTube stars celebrity chef Erwann Heusaff, funny man Bogart the Explorer and Chris Urbano of Maputing Cooking to share tips on how to build an audience and what makes interesting content.

Over 80 student from the CCA attended the event, which followed a format is similar to YouTube’s first Pop-Up Workshop in the Philippines held in February last year attended by JamichTV, PaperbugTV and comedian Mikey Bustos.

As much as Filipinos love a good meal, Gail Tan, Google’s Country Communications Manager, said that they also have an appetite for food videos whenever they go to YouTube.

Tan shared with adobo that the Philippines is the second country globally with the most number of searches about recipes on Youtube, with India leading the poll.

“If people are searching for recipes then they should have more content to find on Youtube. So what’s the best way but to go to people who are actually love and study cooking. We tapped into that talent to inspire them that they can go and step further from their cooking into creating cooking content,” she explained.

Tan said that plans to conduct Google Cafe in other culinary schools depends on the overall success and participation of the young CCA chef trainees, though Google is not limiting itself to just food content.

“I don’t wanna go ahead of ourselves but you there are other areas with tons of ideas that can be shared using well-produced videos on Youtube. It’s a matter of tapping into the whole community of hidden film makers then introduce to the whole idea that they can extend their talent online,” Tan adds.
