MANILA, PHILIPPINES – In celebration of Pride Month, Ayala Malls Cinemas proudly presents an exclusive screening of two beloved and newly restored Filipino classics: T-Bird at Ako (1982) and Mga Anak ni Facifica Falayfay (1987). These storied films return to the big screen, allowing audiences both old and new to experience the enduring brilliance of queer Filipino cinema in its full, restored glory.
As part of its continuing “A-Rewind” program, Ayala Malls Cinemas has partnered with ABS-CBN Film Archives and Restoration to bring these iconic narratives back to life, reaffirming the timeless power of stories that celebrate identity, individuality, and inclusion. This month’s special feature is a cinematic tribute to representation during Pride Month.
Starring screen legends Nora Aunor and Vilma Santos, T-Bird at Ako follows the layered relationship between a principled lawyer, Sylvia (Aunor), and her enigmatic client, Sabel (Santos) – a cabaret dancer charged with manslaughter in a case of self-defense. Directed by Danny L. Zialcita, the film is a compelling exploration of complex femininity, sexuality, and moral ambiguity.

Meanwhile, Mga Anak ni Facifica Falayfay sees comedy king Dolphy reprise his role as Pacifico, formerly known as Facifica. The sequel to the seminal 1969 hit Facifica Falayfay, this 1987 film directed by Romy Villaflor delves deeper into themes of gender identity and parental acceptance. It introduces Rodrigo (played with by Roderick Paulate), Pacifico’s son, whose journey to self-discovery challenges both tradition and familial bonds. The ensemble cast also features Zsa Zsa Padilla, Lotlot de Leon, and Eric Quizon.
