MANILA, PHILIPPINES, December 2019–YouTube has partnered with SMART to bring Creator Camp to empower creators outside Luzon to take their content and career to the next level.

“YouTube is all about talent development and inclusivity. Nowadays, we’re seeing a great number of Filipino creators from rural areas opening their own channels and making their names in the creator community. That’s why we are now expanding our reach outside Luzon and bringing our creator programs to provinces starting with Cebu through YouTube Creator Camp,” said Marc Lefkowitz, Head of YouTube Creator and Artist Development, APAC.

YouTube Creator Camp consists of three workshops: YouTube101 (Audience Development, Production, and Content Strategy), Power of Community (Collaboration and Community Features), and Building Your Business (Monetization, Business101, and Well-being).  Aimed at providing a 360 approach to creator and channel growth, the camp provides free mobile data access through exclusive sim packs from Smart with 4G of mobile data and 1G of YouTube every day, valid for six months. This will enable creators with uninterrupted and much-needed connectivity to produce and upload more videos to grow their channels.

“At Smart, we believe in the talent and creativity of Filipinos all across the country, and we have partnered with YouTube to enable more local content creators to showcase their videos to the world,” said Gerard Milan, VP and Head of Prepaid Marketing for Smart. “We also offer video-centric data products like Giga Video, which comes with 1GB of YouTube every day, that allows them to share their passions and upload more of their content with the Philippines’ fastest mobile data network.”

YouTube Creator Camp would be equipped with insights and knowledge on YouTube’s best practices and will have the opportunity to collaborate with the local creator community. This would also prepare them for succeeding YouTube programs such as YouTube NextUp and the YouTube Partner Manager Program, as well as give them the chance to be part of the annual YouTube FanFest.

These opportunities will also help aspiring creators follow the footsteps of successful YouTube stars such as NextUp alumna Renee Dominique who has collaborated with international singer-songwriter Jason Mraz, and previous FanFest performers Benedict Cua, Team Lyqa, Hype Streetball, Lesha, and Elle Uy.
