Yahoo! joins forces with Vserv.mobi to better target Southeast Asian markets

ASIA-PACIFIC, APRIL 22, 2013 – Yahoo! has announced that it has inked a deal with global mobile ad network Vserv.mobi to help it monetize Yahoo!’s mobile inventory, which includes content such as email, stock quotes, news and weather information, in main markets across Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam.

Vikas Gulati, Vserv.mobi VP for Business Development, Southeast Asia, said that this deal would enable Yahoo! to effectively offer its mobile inventory to Vserv.mobi’s wide subscriber base across the region, while also being able to monetize this inventory. He added that doing so would “rake in lucrative benefits for both Yahoo! and the advertiser ecosystem”.

Dippak Kurana, Vserv.mobi CEO and Co-Founder, said that the partnership would enable Vserv.mobi’s advertisers to “leverage the powerful combination of our network’s superior audience targeting capabilities” and Yahoo’s mobile inventory.

Under CEO Marissa Meyer, who joined the company in July 2012, Yahoo! has made mobile an area of key concern. Mayer has stated that the company must render its set of online assets more readily accessible to users of mobile devices such as smartphones. Such devices are popular in Southeast Asian markets, many of which are undergoing an economic boom that is foreseen to continue into the near future.
