“Phobia” rules Nokia N8 Project Gener8 competition

PHILIPPINES, DECEMBER 20, 2010 – Paul Pineda, a Filipino freelance publishing editor has won first prize in the Nokia N8 Project Gener8 Competition with his HD film "Phobia", walking away with P50,000.

Launched on September 27, the Pier Roxas campaign–created by JWT Manila and Nokia Philippines to introduce the Nokia N8 phone–challenged viewers to help Pier recover his memory by crafting stories (and eventually creating videos) of what could have possibly happened to him over the past eight days.

Out of the nearly 1,000 story entries the competition received and after two rounds of judging, the final winners were announced on December 15, 2010.  All filmed using a Nokia N8 device, the other winning entries included: in second place, Cyrus Pasamba’s "Hypno-Pier" film, third place, Albert Torralba’s "Covert OPS", and walking away with the People’s Choice Award, DK Codera’s "F8" film.

"This was my first time creating a short film and writing a short film script, for that matter," shared Pineda. "I hope you enjoyed watching it as much as we enjoyed filming it."

"The engagement level during every stage of this campaign was just phenomenal," stated Jos Ortega, JWT Manila CEO. "People who entered Pier Roxas’ social networking pages spent an average of four minutes per visit.  His fans got so into it that they began calling themselves ‘Pier-natics’."

"This was an excellent campaign," said Benoit Nalin, General Manager, Nokia Philippines. "There was such a high level of consumer interest with the N8 phone.  We had the highest online pre-orders in Nokia history and our first round of stocks was sold out in two weeks."
