Y&R China strengthens Planning with top level appointments

ASIA-PACIFIC – SHANGHAI, CHINA, JULY 2011 – Y&R China has appointed Kaiyu Li as National Planning Director and David Xiao as Associate Planning Director as the agency looks to strengthen its planning capabilities and consumer knowledge. 
 
Li joins Y&R from Leo Burnett Shanghai where he was Deputy Head of Planning.  He has also held senior planning posts at ARC Worldwide, Hong Kong and JWT Shanghai.   Li comes to Y&R with vast experience of working with some of the world’s biggest brands including Nike, Siemens, China Mobile, Fiat and McDonalds.  He is also an accomplished commentator and thought leader on Chinese social and consumer trends and is the author of a number of published White Papers on those topics.  
 
Xiao has 10 years’ experience in consumer research and strategic planning in China.  This is his second stint with Y&R China, having previously worked in the Shanghai office as a planner in 2009.  He has experience of working on both client and research agency side, most recently working for spirits company Diageo as a Consumer Planner.  He has also worked for research agencies including Citigate, TNS and Synovate. 
 
Commenting on both appointments, Charles Sampson, CEO, Y&R China, said, “Kaiyu is one of China’s leading planning talents and will be a great asset to Y&R.   With David also coming on board it means our strategic planning offer to the market will be very strong.”
