Philippine delegation to CommunicAsia2013 revs up

 A varied selection of ICT-focused firms and organizations from the Philippines, led by the Information and Communications Technology Office of the Department of Science and Technology (DoST-ICTO), is preparing to participate in CommunicAsia2013.

CommunicAsia2013 is the Asian region’s biggest infotech industry event of its kind. Held annually, it provides opportunities for industry professionals worldwide to obtain updates, experience product and service launches and learn from top industry experts. CommunicAsia2013 will showcase some of the latest technologies and products impacting the ICT industry today, including cloud computing, 4G/LTE, satellite communications and multi-platform broadcasting. CommunicAsia2013 is to be organized parallel with EnterpriseIT2013 (during which enterprises source the latest IT innovations and solutions) and BroadcastAsia2013 (the biggest integrated event in Asia for the pro-audio, TV and film industries). The events will be held at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore from June 18-21, 2013.

Philippine firms exhibiting at CommunicAsia2013 include the Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP), Bayan Telecommunications, Globe Business, business process management firms such as Magellan Solutions Outsourcing, RBB Callcenter and Celo Business Solutions, Icon Interactive and Sysnet Integrators. These firms are preparing to showcase the best of what the Philippines has to offer. Other Philippine companies have registered as visitors, including Philippine Airlines, Dream Satellite TV, Smart Communications and Wi-Tribe Philippines.

According to the latest statistics, the Philippines ranks 22nd among the top 25 largest cities worldwide that most effectively use ICT to drive business growth. At least over the medium term, the ICT development of the country is expected to spur GDP growth by approximately 7 to 8 per cent. This is indicative of the key role of digital technology as an economic driver in today’s economy.
