TBWA appoints new global lead for Jameson Account

NEW YORK – October 8, 2013 – TBWA\Chiat\Day New York has appointed James Verrier as global brand leader for the agency’s global Jameson account. He will be reporting to TBWA’s Head of Account Management, Leigh Baker.

The appointment is Verrier’s return to TBWA, where he earlier served as group account director for Pernod Ricard across Jameson Irish Whiskey and Chivas Regal. Throughout his tenure, Verrier was instrumental in repositioning the global communications re-launch of Jameson Irish Whiskey, leading the brand to be named as “2010 Spirits Brand of the Year” by Market Watch.

Verrier is backed by over 19 years of experience in multinational brand building and innovation in both agency and client-side roles.

Verrier was previously vice president of consumer goods company J&M Concepts, overseeing development and marketing across the brand portfolio, including Popcorn Sutton’s Tennessee White Whiskey, Team Real Tree Outdoor Energy, and Witherspoon Sweet Teas.

He has also worked with alcohol brands including Jägermeister, Gekkeikan Sake and American Harvest Organic Spirit at The Sidney Frank Importing Company. As account managing director at McGarry Bowen, Verrier was responsible for Inbev’s 15-market launch of Brazil’s Brahma beer, an award-winning launch that led Brahma to be named a "brand to watch" by Superbrands in 2006.

Commenting on Verrier’s appointment, Baker said: "James has a unique background, building spirits and beer brands on both sides of the Agency/Client world."

“In a nutshell, he knows the business backwards and is the perfect person to lead and foster our relationship globally with Pernod," he continued.

Verrier added: “As the leading brand in the fastest growing spirits categories in the world, the trajectory of the Jameson has been truly phenomenal. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to bring the TBWA network’s resources to bear on this legendary brand to further unleash its unrealized potential”
