Abracadabra, welovepost films win in 28th PMPC Star Awards for Movies

THE PHILIPPINES, MARCH 15, 2012: Post-production house welovepost and “Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story” continues to dominate the movie awards scene. After winning 11 trophies in the 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival, the period movie retelling of the story of a young leader of a Tondo, Manila gang won yet another eight trophies, this time from the 28th Philippine Movie Press Club’s Star Awards for Movies.
 
welovepost won Best Editing (through Jason Cahapay and Ryan Orduna) as the film’s lead post facility. “Manila Kingpin” also won Best Movie Theme Song for “Hari ng Tondo” (King of Tondo), which welovepost also helped produce. Rounding up the film’s awards are Best Picture, Best Direction, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, and Best Musical Score.
 
welovepost’s roster of clients included Asia Brewery, Shakey’s, Mang Inasal, Cignal, Smart Communications, Nestle, Johnson and Johnson, and Splash.
 
Meanwhile, “Thelma”, the fictional biopic inspired by different stories of runners in the country, lorded over the digital category.
 
New breed director Paul Soriano, one of production house Abracadabra’s resident directors, won the Digital Movie Director of the Year and Digital Movie Screen Writer of the Year (shared with Froilan Medina) trophies for his work on the film. “Thelma”, which according to Soriano took two years of research and writing, also won the Digital Movie of the Year award.
 
Before his foray into film, Soriano has directed ads for Western Union, Skin White, Jollibee, Nestlé, Nokia, Globe, and Chevrolet, under Abracadabra. He has also directed music videos and station IDs.
