Bruce Haines set to leave Cheil Worldwide

ASIA-PACIFIC – SOUTH KOREA, MARCH 6, 2013 – Bruce Haines is set to leave his post as global chief strategy officer at Cheil Worldwide, effective April 14. He joined Cheil on April 15, 2008, rounding up exactly five years of helping position the company as an independent global ad agency network.

Haines began his advertising career at Garland Compton in 1973 as an account executive, before joining Young & Rubicam in 1976.  In 1982 he moved to Abbott Mead Vickers as account director and was later appointed client services director.
 
Following its purchase by Abbott Mead Vickers, Haines moved to Leagas Delaney as Managing Director in 1986, subsequently becoming CEO and chairman of the agency.   In 1992 he was elected to the Council of the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising, appointed as honorable secretary in 1996 and in 2001 he was elected president of the IPA for a two year term.
 
He joined Leo Burnett London as group chief executive in April 2002. He managed the successful merger of the Leo Burnett and D’Arcy Groups in London and was responsible for all of the Group companies in the UK.
 
Haines joined Cheil Worldwide in April 2008 with the brief to bring global best practice to the company and to lead its growth internationally. In December of 2009 Cheil bought a significant stake in the UK’s fastest growing agency, BMB and plans are underway to launch the brand into new markets.
 
He is a Fellow of the IPA, Fellow of the Marketing Society and Patron of the Andrea Adams Trust which supports victims of bullying in the workplace.
