Aspac taps Joey Ong as CCO

MANILA, AUGUST 28, 2013 –  Joey Ong is moving on from his role as executive creative director of DDB Philippines,  to take on the chief creative officer role for Aspac Advertising.

Ong is now looking forward to exciting experiences with the two-time Independent Agency of the Year winner, Aspac Advertising. He believes that small and independent means more agile and responsive – exactly how he sees agencies should be nowadays. Ong is expected to take office this September.

“Leaving DDB after less than 3 years turning the agency around to a more competitive creative shop being recognized as Young Guns Design Network of the Year in 2011, taking home metals from local and international shows including an in-book in D&AD, AME Gold, Spike, Kidlat, Araw and adobo Design awards.  It was a great experience to bring a more youthful spirit to DDB,” added Ong.

Prior to DDB, he was with Bates 141 Manila (now Bates CHI & Partners) for three years. He won a number of metals under his belt including a Gold Spikes for Tulakabataan at Spikes Asia in September 2010. He is best known for his Greenpeace ‘Trees’ print ad, which won the country’s first ADFEST Gold in 2007 when he was still with JWT. He has won in both international and local award shows such as Cannes, Clio, One Show, D&AD Merit, to the Advertising Congress and The Creative Guild of the Philippines’ Kidlat Awards. In his seven years of industry experience, he ranked as 8th ECD in the Philippines by Campaign Magazine. He has also led creative divisions of TBWA and Publicis JimenezBasic

Ong has worked on some of the country’s biggest client brands, including Ford, San Miguel Red Horse, URC, Unilever Close Up, Sunsilk, KFC, Alaska, Jollibee, Chowking, Greenwich, Unilab-Diatabs, Alaxan, Revicon Max, Monde Nissin, Lucky Me, Citibank, Pulpy Orange, Unilever, Rexona, Knorr, Clark, Pru Like UK, HSBC, WWF, Avon, Bench, Pfizer, Carl’s Jr. and Dell Philippines, among others.
