4th Philippine Motor Show geared to drive the fun

THE PHILIPPINES, JULY 2, 2012: Promising “more fun the fourth time around,” the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) is back with the 4th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) on August 16 to 19, 2012 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila in Pasay City.

This year’s theme, “Drive the Fun,” is also a show of support for the Department of Tourism’s “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” campaign. The motoring public will again be treated to a dazzling exhibition of concept or prototype vehicles and the latest advancements in automotive technology.

Automotive brands that will participate include: Columbian Auto Corporation, Cats Motors, Isuzu, Mitsubishi, Asian Cars Manufacturing, Nissan, Suzuki, Universal Motors, Honda Cars, and Toyota.

The timing of the 4th PIMS could not have been better, said Atty. Rommel Gutierrez, president of CAMPI. Optimism among the 13 members and affiliates of the influential umbrella organization is riding on the auto industry’s strong performance in May – which registered a 30.7-percent year-on-year growth in sales.

“This is a clear sign that the industry is on the road to recovery and in achieving its targets in the industry road map,” Atty. Gutierrez, who is also vice president at Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation, said at the June 29 “world premier of the 4th Philippine International Motor Show” at the Makati Shangri-La.

“With the introduction of new car models, improved supply conditions, sustained consumer confidence, and the country’s thriving economy, we at CAMPI are confident that the local auto industry will attain our 2022 vision for the Philippines to be a competitive manufacturing base of motor vehicles and parts and components, serving both the domestic and export markets,” said Atty. Gutierrez.

Beyond mounting a show of international caliber, this year’s PIMS also supports CAMPI’s staunch advocacy in re-crafting the new Motor Vehicle Development Program (MVDP) and underscoring the importance of enhancing the competitiveness of the local auto manufacturing sector to entice auto manufacturers to provide additional investments in the country.

Driving more fun at the PIMS are exciting event features such as automotive photography and scale model exhibits, technical/garage workshops, outdoor activities such as car club meets and vehicle test drives, presentations of CAMPI members, special auto financing promos, and nightly entertainment shows.
