Akihiko Kubo is first Japanese president of O&M Japan

ASIA-PACIFIC – TOKYO, AUGUST 10, 2012: Ogilvy & Mather Japan GK appoints Akihiko Kubo as its president effective September 1, 2012. Current president Kent Wertime will move as chairman. 

Kubo, whose experience in the industry spans nearly three decades, joined Ogilvy & Mather GK as executive vice president in May 2012.
 
On his new appointment, Kubo commented: "I am honored to be appointed as the first Japanese president of Ogilvy & Mather Japan," said Kubo. "Backed by the tremendous strength and energy of this Group, as shown in our recent recognition as Network Agency of the Year at The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. I am confident we can fulfill our mission of continuing to provide our clients with world-class, best-practice services."
 
Wertime will continue to be based in Tokyo to focus on the growth of Ogilvy & Mather Japan Group as chairman and COO of Ogilvy & Mather Asia Pacific.
