Friendster rebrands as a social gaming platform

THE PHILIPPINES, APRIL 27, 2012: Friendster, the pioneering social network site that started in 2002 is back but on a different path.
 
Originally created as a dating site and evolved as an avenue to reconnect with old friends and to promote band gigs, Friendster has over 115 million registered users, 90% comes from Asia and 40% of that comes from the Philippines. Of the Philippine traffic however, only 10% are active
 
In order to remain competitive, the once leading social network has officially launched the redesigned Friendster at the Museum Café, Makati on March 26, 2012. 
"The Philippines has always been one of our biggest markets with a vibrant online community that is continuously growing. We are committed in bringing the latest content and giving the most compelling rewards to our users," said Friendster Philippines chief operating officer Nikolai Galicia.

The new Friendster is host to over 50 online games and is planning to add one game per week having partnered with over 100 third-party online game developers. Following its development Friendster is featuring the following upgrades:
Innovative and user friendly interface;
Selections of avatars to suit your personas;
Chat with existing and new friends via the Friendster Chat Application while playing games on Friendster;
Over 50 Online games from eight different genre like role-playing, strategy, simulations and card games;
Earn rewards through points for every activity within the site including adding friends, engaging with friends, daily log-in or playing any game;
Simple easy-to-obtain virtual currency that can be used to purchase virtual goods, online games and applications in a safe and convenient manner.
