When you think of summer, images of sandy shores and clear blue waters instantly come to mind, along with memories of out-of-town trips with family and friends. However, the reality for most Filipino Gen Zs is different – they don’t always leave the bustling metro for the season; instead, they turn the concrete jungle itself into the ultimate destination.
Sprite’s “‘Yan ang Refreshing!” campaign completely reimagined the summer experience right in the heart of the city. The heat was no match for the youthful energy radiating across SM Mall of Asia By the Bay on May 16, as hundreds gathered to culminate the season since summer is at its tail end at the Sprite Ultimate Sunset Summer Party — transforming the venue into an oasis of smiles, good vibes, and pure, refreshing fun.
By celebrating these everyday city moments, Sprite makes a strong statement: summer doesn’t necessarily slow life down, but instead fuels it with a vibrant, unstoppable spirit.
Interactive booths for that ultimate refreshment
The afternoon kicked off with five interactive booths designed to introduce attendees to Sprite’s idea of the ultimate summer experience. Guests began their journey with a cold, refreshing bottle of Sprite and a blank postcard template at the first stop.

Guests then moved to the other booths to collect stamps, take photos — including at a massive Sprite fountain in the center, complete with comically-huge blocks of ice and bottles — and claim their exclusive merch giveaways.

In the end, the layers of stamps collected at each booth equated to an artwork that guests could take home as special event memorabilia.
A symphony of local sounds amps up the urban heat
The sun blazed and heat filled the venue, the focus shifted from the interactive grounds to the main stage, where the temperature was about to skyrocket even more. The ACES of P-pop, BGYO, conquered the stage to officially start the concert. Members Gelo, Akira, JL, Mikki, and Nate sent the crowd’s energy soaring with their high-octane performances of their chart-topping hits.

Sustaining that initial burst of heat, Filipino alternative rock band fitterkarma, who has been topping the Spotify Philippine charts for weeks, took over the stage next, shifting the mood with an emotionally resonant lineup of songs that struck a deep chord with the audience. The set reached its peak when the band performed its hit songs, “Pag-Ibig ay Kanibalismo II” and “Kalapastangan.”
The musical landscape evolved beautifully as day turned to dusk. As the sun set and a cool breeze finally kicked in, Pinay hip-hop sensation Illest Morena lent her irresistible presence and talent to the stage. After playing her hit track “Faded (Raw),” she hyped up the crowd by treating them to a brand-new, unreleased song.

Keeping that hip-hop momentum ablaze, rapper Shanti Dope followed immediately after, representing the local scene with massive hits like “Amatz” and the track that skyrocketed him to fame, “Nadarang.”
To close the evening on a high note, Drag Race Philippines Season 3 winner Maxie Andreison capped off the night with a bang, delivering flawless live vocals and highly stylized choreography. She pumped more hype by performing “Halika Na Lika Na,” along with a lineup of covers, including that of Sean Kingston & Justin Bieber’s “Eenie Meenie.”
Just as Maxie finished her set, a fireworks display lit up SM MOA By the Bay, painting the evening in bursts of color and officially drawing the event to a close. The weather may have been warm, but the Sprite Ultimate Sunset Summer Party delivered a truly refreshing experience — proving that when you have the right crowd, the best local music, and an ice-cold Sprite on your hand, you can rewrite the rules of summer and celebrate the season entirely on your own terms.‘Yan ang refreshing!
